The NSHE ID provides a system-wide unique identifier for each student, faculty and staff member within the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE).
New applicants for Fall 2011: Students applying to any NSHE institution will be issued an NSHE ID for identification during the application process. Once accepted, each institution will manage the interaction between the NSHE ID and an institution-specific identifier. At Nevada, newly accepted students will activate their UNR NetID which will become their primary identifier to access most computing services on campus including MyNEVADA. Incoming students scheduled to start school during the Fall 2011 semester will register using the MyNEVADA website once accepted to UNR. New students wishing to take classes during Summer 2011 should contact Admissions and Records at 784-4700 for instructions on for Summer 2011 registration.
Continuing Students: Continuing students will see their new NSHE ID when they log into MyNEVADA. However, their existing UNR NetID will continue to be the primary identifier and will be used computer access while on campus. Use of the student R-number will be discontinued and the NSHE ID will replace it. Continuing students will use ePAWS for Summer 2011 registration and then transition to MyNEVADA for Fall 2011 registration.
Faculty and Staff: Nevada Faculty and Staff have been issued an NSHE ID which they can view when logging into MyNEVADA. The new NSHE ID will replace the Employee Identification Number (EIN) once the project is fully implemented, but not slated for the foreseeable future. The employee module of the MyNEVADA website will be implemented in the future once budgets allow. Until that time, UNR Faculty and Staff will continue to use the Employee Self Service System (ESS) to manage their personal information.
The MyNEVADA website will be the interface for most admission, registration, student records, and advising services at Nevada. Students, faculty, and staff will use MyNEVADA for many functions. MyNEVADA is taking the place of SIS and ePAWS for all functions associated with Fall 2011 enrollment. Functions of this system are coming online on a rolling basis, so check at About MyNEVADA for an updated timeline.
