Each year, the Information Technology (IT) Division invites faculty and staff at the University of Nevada, Reno to apply for funds available through the Student Technology Fee.
* Deadline for applications is April 1, 2006
* The Vice-President for Information Technology notifies successful applicants in late spring
* Funds must be expended by October 1 of the same year
Most of the money collected from the per-credit technology fee, instituted in Fall 1999, helps staff the Help Desk, Classroom Technology Support, and IT’s general-use computer labs. The balance of the funds is distributed to departments, colleges, schools, and other areas to provide state-of-the-art information technology that supports and enhances student learning.
Technologies funded from this fee can be used to support applications in computer labs, classrooms, and elsewhere as long as the primary emphasis is in support of student learning. Departments who plan to use student technology fees in "proprietary" computer labs should be willing to have their labs open to the general student population on a space-available basis, with priority use reserved for their departmental or college students.
Academic departments, colleges and schools, and academic and student services units are eligible to apply for Student Technology Fee funds. (Individuals may not apply.)
