The Apple iPhone, which launched last month, is currently not being supported by the Information Technology Division at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Campus customers are urged to delay purchasing the iPhone until IT has a chance to acquire an iPhone for evaluation, complete the initial evaluation, and confirm whether some essential UNR applications work and can be supported on the iPhone.

The iPhone is exclusive to AT&T (formerly Cingular). iPhones are now available at Apple retail stores, the Apple retail store online, and AT&T retail stores. Educational discounts are not available.

Summary of information about the iPhone

• Availability: The iPhone is only available for purchase through Apple stores and corporate AT&T stores (formerly Cingular stores).

• Accounts: The iPhone and associated voice and data plans are not eligible for a UNR corporate account.

• Support: AT&T's business channel will not sell, service, or otherwise provide support for the iPhone and related issues.

• Activation: The iPhone requires iTunes to activate service plans.
