Configuring Eudora 7(PC) for Exchange Email
The following instructions are designed for configuring Eudora for Windows using the secure IMAP protocol for the University’s Exchange email server.
*IMPORTANT NOTE! You must contact the Help Desk to arrange for IMAPS to be turned on for your Exchange account. Otherwise, the following instructions will not be successful for you.
Assumptions
- Your email is delivered to Exchange, the University's primary email server (@unr.edu).
- Sample user name: Joe User
- Sample email/NetID username: joeuser
- Sample email address:joeuser@unr.edu
Configuring Eudora
- Open Eudora 7.
- On first use, the New Account Wizard activates. Cancel out of the wizard.
- From the top menu bar, click Tools and click Options.
- Select Getting Started from the menu bar at left.

- Enter the information as shown above:
- Real Name: Enter the name you want to display to recipients when you send emails
- Email address: Enter your email address
- Mail Server (Incoming): Enter imapssl.unr.edu
- User Name: Enter
your NetID (only the part before the "@" sign).
- SMTP Server (Outgoing): Enter smtp.unr.edu
* NOTE: If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is other than UNR, you must contact your ISP to determine this outgoing server setting.
- Select Checking Mail from the menu bar.

- Enter the information as shown above:
- Mail Server: Enter imapssl.unr.edu
- User Name: Enter your NetID (only the part before the "@" sign)
- Check the box labeled, "Don't check without a network connection"
- At the bottom, in the section marked "Secure Sockets when Receiving," click the drop-down arrow and select "Required, Alternate Port"
- Select Incoming Mail from the left menu bar and select the IMAP Server Configuration, as shown.

- Select Sending Mail from the menu bar.
- Enter the information as shown above:
- Email address: Enter your email address
- SMTP server: Enter smtp.unr.edu
* NOTE: If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is other than UNR, you must contact your ISP to determine this outgoing server setting.
- Click OK and try checking your email.
