Checking Your Quota in Outlook 2003 for Exchange

Outlook 2003 users who are on the Exchange server at the University of Nevada, Reno have a 250-MB quota. You are notified when 10 MB remains. If you exceed your quota, messages are received but not sent.

The following instructions illustrate how to determine the amount of available quota used.

  1. Select Tools/ Mailbox Cleanup…

  1. Select View Mailbox Size…

  1. Select the Server Data tab

  1. The Total size (including subfolders) is the amount of space that you are taking up on the University's Exchange server.
    • In this example, the user has used 66.3 MB of the available 250-MB quota.
      • As indicated above, you convert KB to MB by moving the decimal point 3 spaces to the left (e.g., 66,316 KB = 66.3 MB).
    • Folder Size is a convenient way to find out how big your mailbox is or how much space a particular folder is taking up.
    • The folders listed under Subfolder and their respective sizes are what counts towards the Total Size (including subfolders)
