Configuring Entourage for Twilight Email

Entourage is the email component of Microsoft Office 2001 for the Macintosh. It is a hybrid of the MS Outlook/Outlook Express packages found on PCs.

    • To access Twilight email via Entourage, you must have Internet access, either through a University PPP account or a commercial ISP.
    • Configuration steps should be completed BEFORE connecting to the internet.

Configuring Entourage

  1. Open Entourage.
  2. From the top menu bar, click Tools / Accounts.
  3. Select the Mail tab.
  4. Click New (top left of window) to start the Account Setup Assistant.
  5. In the Your Name window, type your name as you want it to appear on outgoing emails.
  6. Click right arrow to continue (lower right).
  7. Click to select I already have an email address that I'd like to use.
  8. In the Internet E-mail Address window, in the E-mail address box, type your Twilight email address and click right arrow to continue.
  9. In the E-mail Server Names window, make the following selections:
    • Under Select server type: IMAP or POP, IMAP is recommended. (For more information, refer to IMAP vs. POP).
    • Incoming mail server (IMAP): Enter twilight.unr.edu
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP):
      • If your computer is located on the University campus or you are connecting via a University PPP account, type smtp.unr.edu.
      • If you are connecting through an outside Internet Service Provider (ISP), enter the SMTP server for that ISP. Contact your ISP for instructions.
    • Click the right arrow to continue.

  1. In the Internet Mail Logon screen (above)
    • Under Account ID, enter your username (email address to left of @ sign) and Password.
    • Do NOT check Save password. Remember, when you save your password, anyone can read your email.
    • Click the right arrow to continue.
  2. In the Congratulations window
    • Under Account Name, enter an informational name such as "Twilight Email."
    • Click Finish.
  3. You are returned to the Accounts window.
    • Select your newly created email account.
    • Click Edit.

  1. An Edit Account window displays.
    • On the Account Settings tab, confirm your information.
    • On the Advanced tab, match image above and click OK.
