Configuring Entourage 2004 for Exchange Email

Entourage is the email component of Microsoft Office for the Macintosh.

Before you begin, make sure your computer is connected to the network, that you have the latest version and updates for Entourage 2004, and you have a University Exchange server account.

Configuring Entourage for On Campus and At Home

  1. Start Entourage 2004 for the first time.

  1. Click the Make Default button.
  2. As soon as the Entourage Setup Assistant window opens (as shown below), close it by clicking the red dot in the upper left-hand corner.

  1. From the Entourage main menu, select Entourage/Account Settings (as shown below).

  1. When the "Accounts" window displays, select New / Exchange (as shown below).

  1. An Account Setup Assistant window opens.

  1. Enter your full email address (e.g., username@unr.edu), check the box for "My account is on an Exchange server," and click the button to "Configure account manually."
  2. The Edit Account window displays (shown below). You need only make entries on 2 tabs: Account Settings and Advanced.
  3. On the Account Settings tab:
    • Enter your personal account information in place of the sample information shown below.
    • Make sure the Exchange server listed is owa.unr.edu.

  1. On the Advanced tab, fill in the information exactly as shown:
    • Public folders server: owa.unr.edu
    • Check "This DAV service requires a secure connection (SSL)"
    • LDAP server: primus.unr.edu
    • Check "This server requires me to log on"

  1. Click the OK button when finished.
  2. The Accounts window reopens and your new account is now listed.
    • Click the red dot in the upper-left corner to close it.

  1. The Mail window (above) displays and shows your UNR Exchange account in the left-hand pane.
    • Leave it running for awhile.
    • Entourage will synchronize your entire Exchange account. (Be patient - depending on the size of your mailbox, it may actually take a couple of hours.)
  2. To begin reading and sending email:
    • Click on the arrow next to your username@unr.edu account in the left pane to expand your Exchange account folders.
    • Click on your Exchange account Inbox.
