Plain Mail List

Simple mailing lists are available to students on the Fallon server.

  • Owner must have an email address ending in @unr.nevada.edu, @scsr.nevada.edu or @scs.unr.edu
  • Maintenance is through UNIX command line (secure shell)
  • Mailing list file is stored in user's home directory on the Fallon server
  • For a list by the name of "listname," the address file would be "listname.members" and the email address would be "listname@unr.nevada.edu"

To Request a Plain Mailing List

Plain mailing lists must be associated with University education or business. Please include the following information in an email to the Help Desk when requesting a plain mailing list. Incomplete information delays creation of your list.

Plain List Name:

Although not limited to 8 characters, we recommend a concise name for your mailing list. Fewer characters increases the likelihood that users will type the correct address.

NOTE: Names are not guaranteed and cannot conflict with any other usernames or existing list names.
Owner Name/
Email Address:		 Name and email address of one (1) owner
Purpose: Short description of purpose for the list
