Configuring Mac OS X Mail for Exchange
Before You Begin
Make sure you have the latest version of Mac OS X and Mac OS X Mail.
Run all Apple Software Updates.
Make sure your Exchange account has IMAPS turned on (required for all Mac users). Contact the Help Desk to make the request.
Initial Setup
When you initially open Mac OS X Mail, a New Account window opens. If not, select Mail/Preferences/Accounts from the menu and click + to add a new account
At the Welcome to Mail screen, click Continue.
In the New Account/General Information screen, select Exchange as the Account Type and enter your Exchange account information, as shown below. Click Continue.
In the New Account/Incoming Mail Server window, enter server and account information as shown below and click Continue.
Incoming Mail Server: imapssl.unr.edu
Outlook Web Access Server: owa.unr.edu
In the New Account/Outgoing Mail Server window, enter the Exchange server information (smtp.unr.edu) and click Continue.
The following New Account/Account Summary window displays.
Check your account information and, if it correct, click Continue. (Otherwise, click Go Back and make any adjustments needed.)
On the New Account/Conclusion window, click Done.
When your Inbox and Folder window displays, you must wait until the folders are synchronized with the Exchange server. The length of time varies depending upon the size of your folders.
Congratulations! You are ready to use Mac OS X on the Exchange server.
