Changing Your Password

Every email account at the University of Nevada, Reno has an associated password. Passwords cannot be retrieved. They are secure and exist in an encrypted form on each server.

If you forget your password, you must present a photo ID at the Help Desk in Getchell Library. Passwords cannot be changed via email or over the phone. However, the Help Desk will assist students in setting a Fallon password hint to allow you to retrieve your password in the future (as described below).

Password Security

To ensure security, an email password must meet the following restrictions:

  • Does NOT contain all or part of the user's account name
  • Is at least 6 characters in length
  • MUST contain characters from 3 of the following 4 categories:
    1. English UPPER-CASE characters (A-Z)
    2. English lower-case characters (a-z)
    3. Base 10 digits (0-9)
    4. Nonalphanumeric (e.g., !, $, #, %)

Passwords are case-sensitive!
