Webmail Spam Filtering by Subject
Because all incoming University email believed to be spam is now tagged in the email's Subject line, the best way to set a spam filter is by the email's Subject.
- If your email is on Fallon, SCS/NSHE tags probable spam with [SPAM WARNING]

How to Apply a Subject Filter
To apply a Subject filter to your email account, follow these 9 steps:
- Log into your campus email account and click your Inbox, then the Options icon on the top tool bar.
- Under the Mail Management heading click Filters.
- Next, click Edit your filter rules.
- Check the Subject box.
- In the adjoining text box, type SPAM WARNING in all caps. *
- Under the text box, you can choose delete message or move message to a folder (recommended, since some legitimate messages may get tagged) . Click the circle next to your choice and click Create.
- Click the Apply all rules button under the tool bar.
- Next, go back into the Filters folder (Options/Filters) as outlined in steps 1 and 2.
- This page will allow you to Apply filter rules upon logging on, Apply filter rules when mailbox is refreshed, and Display message when filters have been applied. Check the box next to the option(s) you wish to apply to your filter. Then click Save options to finish the process.
* Note: Double check your spelling; if misspelled, the filter won't catch anything.
