Webmail Filters
Students can configure filters on their Fallon Webmail. Filters can also be used to delete or file incoming or outgoing email.
Applying filters (once defined):
- From the INBOX, click on the
icon located in the INBOX label bar.
- Follow the instructions below (Filter Definition Screen Access).
- Click Apply All Filters.
Creating a filter using the Blacklist feature:
- Go to INBOX, view the offending email.
- Select Blacklist from the toolbar along the top of the Webmail window.
- A wizard generates a rule and presents it to you in the following format:

- In this example, any email coming from the address howpat@uisreno.com is deleted.
- The rule may be generalized by changing the text.
- For example, if you edit the text to read howpat, it rejects incoming email from any email address starting with howpat.
- Or, if you edit the text to read uisreno.com, all incoming email from that server is rejected.
- The action line is used to describe how identified email is processed.
- Delete message is the default.
- Email matching the rule could also be stored in user-defined folders.
Defining a filter
Access to the Filter Definition screen is also available through the Options item on the main toolbar.
- Select Filters from the Mail Management column.
- Select Edit Your Filter Rules.
- You see your current list of filters built by the Blacklist command.
Filters are applied in the order they are listed. The most comprehensive filters (those that would impact the most email) should be near the top of the list.
