Wolfmail Vacation Messages

The Wolfmail Vacation program automatically sends a user-specified response to incoming email. Use it when you plan to be away from your email for a short period (usually less than a month.)

The following instructions are for email addresses ending in @unr.edu, @admin.unr.edu, or @med.unr.edu.

Turn Vacation Feature ON

  1. From an Internet-connected machine, start an Internet browser (e.g., Internet Explorer or Netscape Communicator).
  2. Go to https://wolfmail.unr.edu.
  3. Login to your email account with your username (email address to left of @-sign) and password.
  4. Click the plus (+) sign next to Mail.
  5. Click Filters.
  6. Click Vacation.
  7. If you do not want your vacation message to go to certain addresses, list those email addresses under “Addresses to not send responses to
  8. If you do not want the vacation message to reply to bulk or list messages (e.g., campus announcements), check “Do not send responses to bulk or list messages.”
  9. Under “Number of days between vacation replies," enter the number of days before sending a vacation response to someone who has already received one.
  10. Enter the Subject of the vacation message. This line is included in the header of your autoreply and in the body of the message.
  11. Enter the Reason for the vacation message:
    • Be sure to consider your personal and property safety when providing details
    • Remember, this vacation message is sent to every new incoming email address whether or not they are known to you.
  12. Click Save.
  13. Click Return to Rules List.
  14. To enable your vacation message, verify that there is a green check mark under the Enabled column. If not, click the red “X” to enable the vacation message.

Turn Vacation Feature OFF

  1. From an Internet-connected machine, start an Internet browser.
  2. Go to https://wolfmail.unr.edu.
  3. Login to your email account with your username and password.
  4. Click the plus (+) sign next to Mail.
  5. Click Filters.
  6. Click the green check mark under the Enabled column (next to Vacation) to disable the message. It should say DISABLED next to Vacation once you have done this.

*IMPORTANT NOTE:

The vacation program interacts with the email forwarding feature. You must reestablish email forwarding after turning the vacation feature off.
