An AT&T telephone line may not appear in more than one building on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno.
An AT&T line is associated with a specific building in the 911 emergency database. A line cannot be associated with more than one building, because if an emergency call is made, all emergency services will be dispatched to the building identified with the line in the database. If the call is made from another building where the same line is installed, services will be dispatched to the wrong building. This is a life and safety issue.
Where it is determined that a line appears in more than one building, staff from Telcomm Services will work with the people involved to find another telephone solution.
