SAS for Workstations

The University of Nevada, Reno Information Technology (IT) Division administers campus licensing for SAS statistical software as an extension of the Nevada System of Higher Education / System Computing Services (NSHE/SCS).

Instructions for Obtaining SAS

University of Nevada, Reno departments may license and register SAS for use on University-owned computers. Personally-owned computers used for work are not eligible for primary licensing. Please note that each University-owned device (desktop or laptop) requires its own license; the Home Use Agreement is only for personally-owned devices after a license is registered on a University-owned device.

  • University faculty and staff must contact IT's licensing specialist to coordinate payment and installation at (775) 784-1876.
  • Check the System Requirements listed below to see if SAS will, in fact, work on your computer. Be sure that you have a fast enough processor, enough RAM, and ample hard disk space.
  • Please note that SAS is not available for the new Intel-based Macintosh. For those who have these systems, the Dataworks’ Citrix server may be used. SAS has not yet given a time-frame for a workaround or a fix to this issue. For all G4 systems using Mac OS X, the license may be renewed as listed below.

Make checks payable to "Board of Regents" or, on the UNR campus, make an Internal Purchase Order (IPO) payable to Information Technology.

Prices include the SAS license only. Manuals and media are not included. However, manuals can be purchased separately, as detailed below. All desired modules are included in the installation price. Please note that personal checks will not be accepted for payment of licensing. 

  • Upon renewal, the associate may have other modules installed at no extra charge.
  • Your SAS license will automatically expire on an annual basis and must be renewed. An Annual Renewal Fee will be assessed each year around July 1st. The Annual Renewal Fee entitles you to updated versions and continued use of SPSS.
  • If you choose not to renew, you are responsible for destroying all copies of SAS. Failure to do so is a violation of Federal Copyright laws.

  • Once payment and completed paperwork are received, an SAS Installation Appointment will be scheduled. This can take up to one (1) week.
