PC Refurbishment Program
When available, Field Support replaces older legacy computers with refurbished University Surplus PCs* for $60 each to requesting campus departments. These requests are filled as surplus PCs become available for refurbishing, so there is no guarantee of immediate replacement.
* Usually P-4 2.0 Ghz or higher with a minimum of 256-MB memory and Windows XP operating system
Details
- Refurbished PCs are the exclusive property of the University of Nevada, Reno, subject to proper salvage and surplus procedures set forth by the University's Purchasing Department and state law.
- There is a $60 charge for the PC and CRT monitor.
- The $60 includes:
- Copying the file contents of the old hard disk onto the refurbished PC
- Removing applications from the old PC to be transferred to the refurbished one
- Reloading any applications, where the user has proof of licensing and media
- Moving email, using the same format as on the older PC
- Configuring printer drivers and peripheral equipment for standard existing devices
- A CRT monitor is included with the refurbished PC. When available, a flat panel monitor can be included for an additional $20.
