Desktop Services' Field Support serves the computing needs of Administrative and Academic Faculty and Staff at the University of Nevada, Reno. (See the list of buildings included in the Support Center's coverage area below.) Work orders for Desktop Services are opened by calling 682-5000. Campus-Wide Services Performed by Desktop Services:

In addition to supporting the buildings listed below, Desktop Services also performs these campus-wide services for all computer users:

  • Hardware Support — If you need relocation, upgrade, or repair service on a particular piece of computer hardware (desktop or laptop computer, printer, or other peripheral), Desktop Services provides this support for the campus.
  • PC Refurbishment Program — When computers are replaced, sometimes the old computer can be rebuilt to make it available to go back into the university network. This Desktop Services program allows departments to buy rebuilt PCs for only $60, when they do not have funds for new computers. Used monitors and refurbished printers may also be available.
  • PC & Laptop Replacement Program — When PCs used by full-time, state-paid faculty and staff drop below a certain threshold, typically after 4 years, Desktop Services goes out to these users and evaluates whether to replace their computers with new PCs.
