Do-It-Yourself Media Program

The Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Media Program was established to help students and faculty be self-sufficient in their use of media to communicate knowledge.  The program provides robust tools, environments, connectivity and access to information all within a framework of support and service.

Production equipment is available through the Technology Checkout Service. This includes, among other equipment:

  • Digital still cameras
  • Digital video cameras
  • Tripods
  • Microphones
  • Audio mixers
  • Llight kits
  • Projectors
  • Laptops

Take your raw media to the Dynamic Media Lab (DML) to create a final product.  The DML is located on the lower level of Getchell Library next to the Multimedia Center.  It is a supported, networked 12-station Apple G5 lab with numerous professional media creation software tools installed on new computers and displayed on large cinema displays.

Close proximity to the Multimedia Center and direct access to the Library's professional staff and significant electronic and print resources broadens the possibilities for academic and research pursuits.

DIY's support and service rely on the broad-based skills of Library and Information Technology staff at-large and specifically on the technical, media and instructional skills of Teaching and Learning Technology staff.  TLT manages the equipment-checkout process and insures that these technology tools are in good working order.   Support also comes in the form of creative and technical consultation for media production and post-production, instructional design  and WebCT applications.
