FAQs About NetIDs

Why is a NetID necessary?

Your NetID verifies who you are when you use online resources at the University of Nevada, Reno. Such verification helps restrict the use of resources to those for whom they are intended. However, to ensure that your personal information stays secure and private, NEVER give out your NetID and password to others. Your personal NetID is for your use only.

Is it possible to have more than one NetID?

You have just one NetID as long as you are continuously associated with the University (e.g., student, staff, alumni). Currently, we do not purge accounts after a period of inactivity, but that is planned in the future. Thus, you could have a different NetID if you come back to the university after a long absence.
