Operating System Configuration

Before Connecting...

Security is everyone's responsibility. If you have a computer and you wish to connect it to the University network, it is your responsibility to make sure it is secure. This is for your own protection against hackers, identity theft, etc., as well as the protection of other users on the network as your computer could become infected with a virus or worm and begin attacking other computers.

Please go through the security checklist before connecting your computer to the network! This will help ensure that your connection and registration on the network complete successfully, as well as reducing the liklihood that your computer connection is blocked due to security problems detected on your computer.

** You should run a full-system virus scan and a full-system spyware scan before connecting your computer to the network! Contact the Help Desk for assistance with installing antivirus and anti-spyware software and updating your defintions to current versions. **
