NOTE: These directions were developed for a Dell Axim X3i running Pocket PC 2003. These directions may work for other WiFi-enabled handhelds running the Pocket PC 2003 OS.
CONFIGURE VPN Connection
Ensure that your wireless antenna is active.
Go to Start/Settings.
Select Connections tab.
Select Connections icon.
Select the Advanced tab.
Click Select Networks.
Under the box labeled "Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:", click New.
On the General tab, in the box labeled "Enter a name for these settings:" type UNR WIFI.
Select the VPN tab.
Click the New button.
In the box labeled "Name:" enter UNR Wifi
In the box labeled "Host name/IP:" enter wifi.unr.edu
Select PPTP as the VPN type.
Click Next.
On the VPN screen, enter your NetID in the box labeled "User name:"
Enter your NetID password in the box labeled "Password:" (For extra security, leave the box empty. By doing so, you enter the password each time you connect instead.)
Click Finish.
Click OK in the upper-right corner of screen.
The Network Management screen reappears. Click Exceptions.
Click "Add new URL ..." text and enter *.* and click OK. (Screen may show *.*/* after input. That's OK)
Click OK to return to Connections screen.
Click Network Card. Select the Network Adaptor tab. Click Dell TM1200 WLAN Module. Make sure adaptor is set to "Use server-assigned IP address"
Click OK to return to PocketPC 2003 home screen.
Running VPN for PocketPC 2003
To connect to the Internet, click the Connectivity icon (top of PocketPC 2003 home screen).
Click the Connect VPN (underlined text). Wait for the window to disappear.
To disconnect, click the Connectivity icon (top of PocketPC 2003 home screen).
