Off-Campus Terminal Services

UNR Terminal Services allows you to access many University network resources from home. Authentication requires an activated and valid NetID username and password.

Contact the Help Desk to request Terminal Services (TS) access for your account. 
Note: Access to the Terminal Server is limited and granted on a per-user basis.

After your NetID account has been approved for access to the TS server, follow the instructions below to connect via the IE web browser:

  1. Select your operating system:
    • Windows Vista: The Remote Desktop Connection is already installed.  Go to Start/All Programs/Remote Desktop Connection
    • Windows XP:  The Remote Desktop Connection is already installed.  Go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/ Communications/Remote Desktop Connection
    • Mac OS X: The Remote Services Connection is included with Microsoft Office 2004 and 2008.  Access the Remote Desktop Connection client by going to: Applications/MS Office 200x/ Additional Tools/Remote Desktop Connection/Remote Desktop Connection where x is the correct version of Office
      OR
      Download the Mac OSX Client from the main Terminal Services page
  2. Configuration and save the connection.  Do this only on your personal machine.  Do not save the configuration on a shared machine. 
    • Enter ts.unr.edu in the box labeled Computer.
    • Click on the Options button
    • Enter your UNR NetID as UNR\username or username@unr.edu in the Username box.
    • Checkmark the box labeled Allow me to save creditials
    • Click on the Experience tab, select your connection speed from the dropdown box
    • Click on the General tab and click Save
  3. Click on Connect to start connection
