Off-Campus Terminal Services
Terminal Services allows you to access many University network resources from home. Authentication requires a NetID username and password.
Email the Help Desk or call 775-682-5000 (25000 on campus) to get Terminal Services (TS) access for your account. After your NetID account has been granted access to TS, follow the instructions below to connect:
- Using Internet Explorer 6.x, browse to http://ts.unr.edu.
- Click Yes or OK to accept any certificates that are offered.
- Click the Connect button.
- Login with your NetID username and password.
- Once you've logged in, a screen similar to a desktop displays (see example below). This means that you are connected and can now access the server of your choice.
- This Terminal server can be accessed via a Remote Desktop Connection or through a web client (IE 6.0 or greater required) with the server name of ts.unr.edu.
- Windows XP: If you are running Windows XP or higher, the Remote Desktop Connection is already installed and can be accessed by Start/All Programs/Accessories/ Communications/Remote Desktop Connection.
- Other Windows OS: If you are running older versions of Windows, you can download the Remote Desktop Connection from the main Terminal Services page.
- Mac OS X: If you are a Mac OS X user with Microsoft Office 2004 installed, you can access the Remote Desktop Connection client by going to: Applications/MS Office 2004/ Additional Tools/Remote Desktop Connection/Remote Desktop Connection.
- There is also a Mac OSX Client available on the main Terminal Services page
- For further instructions on how to access a particular server resource, please ask your Server Administrator or call/email the Help Desk for assistance.
Note: Access to the Terminal Server is limited and granted on a per-user basis.
