ResHall Windows 98/Me
Configuration
NOTE: Win 98/Me factory default settings for TCP/IP are the correct settings for ResHall internet access. These instructions are provided ONLY if your TCP/IP settings have been changed from factory default.
- From the Windows desktop, go to START/SETTINGS/CONTROL PANEL.
- Open the NETWORK icon.
- In the dialog box, find the TCP/IP* settings associated with your Ethernet network card.
- Click the TCP/IP settings once to highlight it. Then select the PROPERTIES button.
- In the TCP/IP properties dialog box, click the bullet next to "Obtain an IP address automatically."
- Select the GATEWAY tab sheet.
- Highlight and REMOVE all "Installed gateway" IP numbers.
- Select the DNS Configuration tab sheet.
- Click the bullet next to "Disable DNS."
- Click OK.
- Allow Windows to restart your computer. When it asks, click Yes (default = [YES]).
If your computer does not have the TCP/IP protocol installed:
- From the Windows desktop, go to START/SETTINGS/CONTROL PANEL.
- Open the NETWORK icon.
- In the NETWORK dialog box, click the ADD button.
- Highlight PROTOCOL by clicking it once.
- Select the ADD... button to the right.
- Highlight MICROSOFT in the left portion of the dialog box.
- Highlight TCP/IP in the right portion of the dialog box.
- Click OK.
- Allow Windows to restart your computer. When it asks, click Yes (default = [YES]).
To start a connection:
- Start your browser.
- Log on using your NetID username and password.
