Printing to Copystar Printers using Papercut

UNR will support networked Kyocera Copier/Printers beginning July 2012.  Printing is available from Windows, Mac OS X and Linux machines. 

NOTE:  You MUST have an active UNR NetID before proceeding with these instructions.  Permission to install the printers and software is contingent on NetID status.  Call the Help Desk for help with NetID activation. 

The new Kyocera Copiers/ Printers require three things in order to print:

  1. A 6-digit PIN (personal identification number) that will be used to retrieve a job from the printer later. Contact your division/departmental administration for a CopyStar PIN.
  2. A Kyocera printer installed on your computer.  Once installed, the printer will be listed as CopyStar on LOKI as shown below.

    1. Windows Computers within UNR domain.  UNR IT has installed the Kyocera printer and printer drivers to all machines within the UNR domain.  To confirm that the printer has been installed follow these instructions:
      1. Click on the Start button (lower left corner of main screen). It will look like one of the two images below.

      2. Select Devices and Printers (Win7) or Printers and Faxes (WinXP or Vista) from the right side of the start menu. 
      3. Presence of the CopyStar on LOKI icon shown above confirms printer installation.
    2. Windows Computers not permanently linked to the UNR domain such as personal laptops. Follow the instructions on the CopyStar Printer & Printer Driver Installation for Windows Computers page. 
    3. Mac OS X Computers. Installation of the CopyStar printer and printer drivers is a manual process. Follow the instructions on the CopyStar Printer & Printer Driver Installation for Mac Computers page. 
  3. An application called PaperCut that runs in the background on your computer.  PaperCut is a management software that spools print jobs and keeps track of the number and type of pages printed.

    1. Windows Computers within the UNR domain.   Within the UNR domain, the PaperCut application has been installed automatically.  A small icon, like the one displayed above, will appear in the notification area of the Windows taskbar (also known as the Start bar, usually at the bottom of the page).
    2. Windows Computers not permanently linked to the UNR domain. Follow the instructions on the PaperCut Installation on a Windows Computer page. 
    3. Mac OS X Computers.  Installation of the PaperCut software is a manual process on Mac computers.  Follow the instructions on the PaperCut Installation on a Mac OS X Computer page.
