Conferencing

The University offers different options for conferencing with colleagues.

Audio/Video Conferences

A number of rooms on campus have been equipped to facilitate video/audio conferencing with approximately 200 statewide locations including Nevada universities and colleges and many K-12 schools.  With advance notice, connections can usually be made to other video conferencing facilities throughout the U.S. and the world. 

Phone Conferencing

  1. Conference Call (for large groups) Faculty and staff may submit a request for a Conference Call setup through the Footprints call tracking system. Follow the instructions below:
    1. Click on the link below to go to Footprints.
    2. Use your UNR NetID or MedID to login.
    3. Click on the New Ticket button on the toolbar.
    4. When the form opens, select ConferenceCall PBX from the toolbar at the top, and then click the Use Selected Template button.  NOTE:  Med School customers, be sure to fill out the Med Help section of the ticket too.
    5. Fill out the required information.  Note if you are requesting an audio only or audio/video conference call (facilities must be arranged for by requestor.)
    6. Check the Contact Information section.  If anything is incorrect, please update the information in the Description section.  The Contact Information comes directly from the UNR Directory.  Please contact Human Resources or Employee Self-Service (ESS) to permanently correct the information. 
    7. Click the Save icon at either the top or bottom of the form.
    8. You will be informed by phone or by email about the arrangements made for your connection.   
  2. Phone System Conference Calls (Up to 3 Participants)
    On your campus NEC phone, you can easily talk with up to 2 other parties simultaneously.
    1. While on a call, press <TRANSFER>.
    2. Dial the number of party to be added. (Dial campus extension or 9 + number for off-campus parties.)
    3. After called party answers, press <CONF> to join all 3 parties.

Web-based Conferencing

Web Conferencing is available via "Wimba Classroom", a live, virtual classroom environment with features that include audio, video, application sharing and content display.  It has been used successfully by UNR Presidents to expand the scope of Town Hall Meetings to employees who prefer to participate from their offices. Setup and support must be arranged in advance.
