Preferred Handheld Devices and PDAs with Cell Phone Capabilities

SmartPhones and BlackBerry devices are the preferred handheld devices at the University of Nevada, Reno because they are more reliable, consistent in performance, and supportable.

iPhone Update:
 

Apple released the new iPhone 3G on Friday, July 11, 2008.

If you are planning to acquire a new iPhone for business purposes on a UNR account or to synchronize it to the UNR Exchange server, please contact UNR cell phone support at 682-5047 first. UNR cell phone support will need to assist you with your purchase and setup information. The local Apple Store is not able to set up business accounts and local AT&T stores do not know which UNR business account to assign to your new phone.

Business customers.

Current and new iPhone users who now receive or will receive service under a corporate account and wish to purchase iPhone 3G need to contact (UNR cell phone support) AT&T directly. Also, if you want your iPhone to access your business email account, check with your IT manager first.

A UNR iPhone user must have a data and a voice plan. Please e-mail cellphonesupport@unr.edu or call 682-5047 for further information.

Data Plans

We encourage you to get an unlimited data plan, so you are not surprised by high telephone bills.

The cost of unlimited data plans is as follows:

  • Various PDA phones are $39.99 per month for unlimited data
  • Blackberry devices are $49.99 per month for unlimited data

AT&T Wireless Premier Program

All University employees can enroll in the AT&T Wireless Premier Sponsorship program. With the program, you are eligible to receive exciting discounts and benefits.
