Long-distance calls are allowed on university telephones for official University business only.
For personal long-distance calls, employees should use individually purchased prepaid phone cards or personal cell phones. |
How to make a long-distance call from the new NEC system
Most long-distance calls will require an access code (also called an authorization code). Access codes provide a means of controlling unauthorized use of phones and are used for accounting for long-distance charges.
- To dial long-distance, press 9 -1 - area code and number
- At the beep, dial your access code
Long-distance access codes were distributed by email to faculty and staff. If you did not receive one and if your telephone requires an access code to make a long distance call, contact the Support Center at 682-5000 (press 5); they will provide a code or reset your access code.
Toll-free numbers do not require an access code. They can be dialed by pressing 9 - 1 - and the number.
