Getting Started for Students

Students are issued an NSHEID number and a UNR NetID when they are accepted to the University.  The NSHEID number unique to the NSHE system (Nevada System of Higher Education) and may be retrieved through the MyNEVADA management software. 

Three basic components are needed to access and use the UNR computing system.  Your NSHEID number grants access to a variety of computer-based resources at the University.

  1. UNR NetID
  2. Method of Connection (on- or off-campus, Residence Halls and wireless)
  3. Computers, printers and other networked devices around campus (see below).

Once the basic components have been establish, UNR IT provides a number of other computer related services to help students excel at the University.
